In conjunction with Climate Week NYC, the East Coast Greenway Alliance team is gearing up for several impactful events throughout New York City this month. Our goal is to highlight how safe biking and walking infrastructure serves as a crucial tool in combating climate change.

Thursday-Friday, Sept. 19-20, NYC Greenways Summit: The NYC Greenways Summit will illustrate the potential for an equitable greenway network to increase mobility options, reduce emissions and improve climate resilience, introduce new open spaces, promote health and active lifestyles and create new jobs and economic activity. Executive Director Dennis Markatos-Soriano will join a panel at the NYC Greenways Summit, titled “Past, Present and Future of the NYC Greenways Coalition,” on Thursday at 2 PM. A live stream will be available.
Saturday, Sept. 21, 5-7 PM, Roger Herz Greenway and Active Mobility Award Ceremony at HI NYC Ballroom: Honoring longtime New York City bicycle advocate Roger Herz, the first Roger Herz Greenway and Active Mobility Award will be presented at the HI NYC Ballroom, the site of the East Coast Greenway founding in 1991. The award will honor an individual for their outstanding contributions to promoting sustainable transportation and active mobility in New York City. Learn more.
Sunday, Sept. 22: 2-4 PM, “A Walking Tour of Starlight Park with East Coast Greenway Alliance and Bronx River Alliance:” Join the East Coast Greenway Alliance and Bronx River Alliance for "A Walking Tour of Starlight Park with East Coast Greenway Alliance and Bronx River Alliance: Greenways, Climate and Development." Participants will receive a FREE tote bag while supplies last.
