"Every time I go out and ride trails, I'm seeing more families, more young people, more older adults and a wider diversity and array of people using trails," says East Coast Greenway Alliance Virginia & Washington, D.C. Manager Elliott Caldwell.
"That makes me happiest to know that we're not just building trails for one segment of our community; we're building it for a broad cross-section of folks that want to get outside and run and walk and bike and roll with their family and their friends."
In the video below, Elliott shares an update on the dramatic East Coast Greenway progress in his region. In Washington, D.C., the Greenway is nearing completion, and momentum is on our side in Virginia, where 20-25 percent of the route is currently in planning, design or construction. As part of our recent Impact Series, Elliott discussed new additions to the Greenway in the region, two cycle tracks in D.C. and the Mount Vernon Memorial Highway Trail.
