Beginning in 2016, Greenway cyclists bound for the remote harbor town of St. Marys, Georgia, will be able to take their bikes on board the ferry to the Cumberland Island National Seashore. Camden Bicycle Center (CBC) shop owner and Georgia ECG Trail Council member, Terry Landreth, recommends "more of a mountain bike with multiple gears to tackle the terrain." CBC has rentals available.
A two-page summary of the five-day November WHEELS event in Miami, Florida, that surrounded the ECGA's 2015 Fall State of the Greenway Summit and Annual Membership Meeting is available from the Florida Bicycle Association (pages 8-9).

We have two great summer internship opportunities in our Durham, North Carolina, HQ office with application deadlines approaching! Currently enrolled Duke University students can apply through the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke Stanback Internship Program (deadline to apply 1/25/16).
Also, we have an internship opportunity through the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation Non-Profit Internship Program (deadline to apply 2/2/16). Questions about either? Email niles@greenway.org.
Thank you to the Carolina Thread Trail and Catawba Lands Conservancy for hosting a wonderful 8th Annual Trail Forum! Over 240 industry professionals and citizens leaders came together in December 2015 to advance greenways in NC, SC, and beyond! ECGA South-Atlantic Coordinator Niles Barnes presented Complete Corridors: Launching a Movement to Accelerate Greenways.

Park trails in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, are now signed with East Coast Greenway wayfinding signs! Thank you to Jack Keene and Cole Hamilton for your volunteerism and efforts!

On December 8, Philadelphia’s Mayor Nutter went to the last ribbon cutting under his tenure as mayor. In addition to the 10 segments of the East Coast Greenway that were built during his time in office, another 14 have been planned, and there will be 9 groundbreakings for his successor, Mayor Kenney, in 2016. Many thanks to Mayor Nutter and his extraordinary team. We look forward to working with Mayor Kenney and his administration in the years to come.

We are continuing to develop a list of recommended improvements to our route through New York City, and we need your help documenting current conditions.
Please help us by taking this survey and identifying places where the trail needs work to improve safety and walk/ride quality.

This summer the Maine Department of Transportation (Maine DOT) began the process of installing ECG signs on 350 miles of our Maine River Route from Calais to Kittery. To date, 55 miles of signs have been installed, making it easier for ECG users to follow the route and elevating the ECGA’s profile throughout Vacationland.
The ECG signs are being installed in combination with the US Bike Route 1 (USBR1) system which overlaps with the ECG route throughout most of the state. ECG signs will be co-located with USBR1. You may notice a little something extra special in the new arrow designs. Thanks to feedback we’ve received from many of you, our directional arrows now have a thick black outline to create contrast and make them more visible from further distances.
Thank you to all our partners in Maine including Maine DOT, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine, the Quimby Family Foundation, the Maine Community Foundation and an anonymous and very generous donor. Maine DOT hopes to have the entire route signed by Memorial Day 2016. We look forward to celebrating this major milestone once the project is complete.
Saturday, February 13, 2016, 10 AM – Second Annual Sunrise Trail Cross Country Ski Tour in Ellsworth, ME! The ECGA is teaming up with the Sunrise Trail Coalition, the Frenchman Bay Conservancy, and Great Maine Outdoor Weekend for this fun, free, four-mile adventure. We will start at the Washington Junction parking lot on Railroad Siding St. and will travel westerly to downtown Ellsworth and retrace our path to return to the start. Join us both before and after the tour for a bonfire, as well as complimentary hot beverages and refreshments! We welcome those on cross-country skis and snow shoes. Gear rentals are $15 for the day and must be reserved by February 9. Please contact Eileen Bader at (207) 422- 2328 or eileen@frenchmanbay.org for reservation information and to register for the event.
