Cheryl Ann Welsh joined the East Coast Greenway Alliance late in 2018 as our new office manager. She brings more than twenty years of experience in operations, fundraising, and community organizing. Welsh has been involved in the nonprofit sector at both the national and local level, including Public Broadcast Service, Human Rights Campaign, Democratic National Committee, the regional affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and Foundation of Hope.
Welsh is a native of Durham, where she lives with her wife and dogs. She can be found at the beach whenever possible. When she can't be digging her toes in the sand, you'll find her digging in the dirt in the yard and garden. A self-professed addict of women's college basketball, she also enjoys golfing and of course biking. She continues to volunteer with the local affiliate of Susan G. Komen and also Vets to Vets.
"I'm excited to bring all of my experience to the East Coast Greenway," Welsh says. "I'm happy to join this team and look forward to helping advance our mission."
Devin Cowens joined the staff early in 2019. In her newly created position as summit and events specialist, she is managing and measuring the impact of our regional summits, bike tours, and other events along the Greenway. Based in Atlanta, Cowens previously worked as a development officer for fundraising events at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, where she managed and executed several large-scale fundraisers.
Originally from Dallas, Cowens is a huge Cowboys fan. She's an avid cyclist who loves exploring cities by bike and is passionate about multi-modal transportation. She volunteers with the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition, the local bike advocacy group, and is a tour guide for Civil Bikes, highlighting unseen and unheard stories of Atlanta's rich history. She received her BA in psychology from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC.
"I'm excited to join the Alliance because I can put my passion for relationship building and multi-modal transportation access to work," she says. "And to be able to merge my passion for cycling and walking with my love for event planning and connecting people to resources, even better!"
