Atiba Mbiwan

For more than ten years, Atiba Mbiwan has served as associate director of the Zeist Foundation, a family foundation based in Atlanta that supports nonprofits serving children, youth, and families in Georgia. In addition to serving as an East Coast Greenway Alliance trustee, Atiba serves on the governing board of Community Farmers Markets and the Grant Park Conservancy in Atlanta, as well as the Advisory Board of the Penn Center on St. Helena Island, S.C.

He dedicates most of his civic time to the BRAG (Bike Ride Across Georgia) Dream Team, a youth cycling program with clubs across the state of Georgia. In 2015, Coach Atiba fell in love with the East Coast Greenway Alliance after co-leading the BRAG Dream Team, in tandem with the Spoke’n Revolutions youth cycling program, on a youth bike tour along the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor from North Carolina to Florida.

He has lived in New York, Maryland, Rhode Island, and Georgia, thus the East Coast represents his roots and branches. Atiba holds a B.A. in economics and rrban studies from Brown University, including a semester at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He is married to Tiffany Friesen and blessed with three adult children—Keisha, Keenan, and Jacob —and two grandsons, Quatez and DeSean.
