The East Coast Greenway Alliance recently celebrated the installation of a bench and bicycle repair station in Brevard County, Florida, to honor Margaret Blume's long-time East Coast Greenway support in Florida.
"We did it to honor one of our most visionary supporters of the Greenway, Margaret Blume of Florida," Markatos-Soriano said. "Back in 2006, Margaret joined the East Coast Greenway family and supported us and helped us to have staff [in Florida] on the ground to move the Greenway vision forward."
Blume chose the following quote from Anne Frank to provoke thought in those utilizing the bench: "How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."
In an example of a great public-private partnership, the Alliance purchased the items, and the county installed them.
