DURHAM, North Carolina - With hundreds of cyclists riding to improve access to equitable, active transportation in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the East Coast Greenway Alliance’s second-annual New York City-to-Philadelphia Greenway Ride is slated for May 14-15, 2022. Registration for the fully supported, two-day event is now open.
Riders again will depart Jersey City’s Liberty State Park on Saturday, May 14 for a 125-mile trek along the East Coast Greenway route. Following an overnight stop in Princeton, New Jersey, participants will continue to center city Philadelphia for a finish celebration on Sunday, May 15. The ride will feature a mix of paved and natural surface trails, as well as supported, on-road riding.
Registration for the ride opened Monday at greenway.org/nyctophilly at standard and premium levels, each with a fundraising commitment to support the East Coast Greenway’s mission in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Included in the ride registration fee are an event T-shirt, two breakfasts, one lunch, fully stocked rest stops along the route and much more.
The 2021 ride was the most successful event in the 30-year history of East Coast Greenway Alliance, as participants raised $300,000 in support of continued East Coast Greenway development in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania - an area with significant active transportation needs.
“The East Coast Greenway Alliance did a fabulous job of mapping the ride, coordinating each township, stocking the oasis rest stops, and, most importantly, keeping everybody SAFE throughout the ride. I would ride with them again any time,” said one 2021 participant.
“Simply a tremendous experience from start to finish. The event was incredibly well organized and such a blast to ride. Plus, we got to support the East Coast Greenway, truly a worthwhile cause,” added another.
“The camaraderie alone was amazing! I made new friends who all have a passion for riding and supporting the greater good. I love the East Coast Greenway Alliance’s bigger goal and hope that it can come to fruition for the better good of nature, our planet and our people,” shared one rider in the first-ever event.
