New York
Welcome to New York
The Greenway’s route through New York passes through one of the largest cities in the world — and is an experience not to be missed. Visitors and locals often agree that traveling through New York on greenways may be the best way to see the Big Apple.
“The northern end of the route begins in Westchester County and connects to a network of completed greenways in the Bronx, including the Bronx River Greenway and Van Cortlandt Park. The route then uses on-road connections and the Broadway Bridge to link to the Hudson River Greenway near Dyckman Street. Thirteen miles of uninterrupted trail travel the Hudson River Greenway, linking to ferry service at World Financial Center or Pier 11 to New Jersey.
We are working with the NYC Greenways Coalition and government partners to complete the East Coast Greenway in New York City and connect it to a growing network of safe, green pathways for transportation and recreation.

Where We’re Focusing
-
Completing the Manhattan Loop
The Alliance is working to complete the East Coast Greenway route in New York City and connect it to a robust network of trails across the five boroughs and the metro area. In partnership with the NYC Greenways Coalition, we are finding ways to make greenway development faster and more accessible. Priority projects in Manhattan and the Bronx will close remaining gaps in the route through the Big Apple, while longer-term partnerships will create new connections from Westchester County to Connecticut.Learn More -
Expanding Connections in the Bronx
We are working with a robust network of local partners in the Bronx to expand access to greenways for safe transportation and outdoor recreation. Projects like the Harlem River Greenway and Bronx River Greenway are restoring neighborhood connectivity and access to natural assets like our rivers, trees and ecosystems.Harlem River Greenway
