1998 Annual Members Meeting
The East Coast Greenway Alliance held its first annual Members' Meeting on September 19 & 20, 1998 in Annapolis, Maryland. All members in good standing were invited to attend.
Among the items on the agenda were be the election of new members to the ECGA Board of Trustees, and voting on an amendment to our organization's bylaws. Sunday was reserved for exploring area greenways.
We had some 60 attendees for the morning meeting, which was a great success. Five new Trustees were elected to the Board, and four Trustees were re-elected. The bylaw amendment, to do with financial procedure, passed with only one nay vote.
Most importantly, this occasion gave members and ECGA Board and staff a chance to schmooze, exchange ideas for the organization and the trail.
That evening, there was a reception held in a downtown hotel for all attendees plus invited guests. Over dessert and coffee, ECGA Chair welcomed special guests such as John Horsley of the Department of Transportation and David Burwell of Rails-to-Trails Conservancy. There was also an awards ceremony, with plaques given to individuals and organizations who helped the Alliance in many ways over the past few years.
The whole weekend was a great success, and left everyone involved looking forward to the 1999 Annual Members Meeting, to be held in Portland, Maine. Stay tuned for date and location!
