Welcome to the East Coast Greenway in the District of Columbia
The National Mall The East Coast Greenway enters the District of Columbia from the north at the Prince George's County line in Hyattsville, MD, due east of Fort Totten. From there it follows Fort Circle Park off road with a few road crossings, west to Fort Totten Metro station. From there, it picks up the partially-completed Metropolitan Branch Trail, which largely follows the Amtrak line to Union Station. From Union Station, Greenway users will proceed to the National Mall, the official midpoint of the East Coast Greenway. The Mall takes trail users west to Memorial Bridge and the Potomac River crossing to Virginia, where travelers can pick up the scenic Mount Vernon Trail. Trail Status and Plans Trail Status & PlansThe route through the District of Columbia is 8 miles long. 49% of this, or nearly 4 miles, is completed trail. The remainder is largely in-development sections of the Metropolitan Branch Trail, but includes small downtown segments where no off-road trail options currently exist.
